The Fixxers (DJ Quik and AMG) are on the road for the "Ball 4 Real" street-ball tour, pushing the "Can U Werk Wit That" single. Dont know how far they think that record is going to go with the Interscope single deal, Its already pretty much burnt out here in LA. Anyway, if your looking to see them perform that song and I'm sure they'll be doing some of their "old" material as well.

I gotta show love to the homie Lunch from the I.E. If y'all dont know about the Inland Empire, Get A Bar! Basically the IE starts in Ontario, CA., (which is about 40min east of Los Angeles)and includes Rialto, San Bernardino, Moreno Valley & Riverside. There's a movement of artists out that way such as Dirty Birdy, Sly Boogy, Dr. Stank & my guy Lunch who has a crew called Homeless Nation. Fingazz and Streetlight Productions, who have been responsible for some major local hits (Lil Rob, Down, etc.)handle the production end for LUNCH. Check out his new single "Get'em Girl" and his video "I.E. Anthem"... with a slick Jay-Z sample...

New video from 40 Glocc... this is a refreshing song/video. The west needs to get back to this kind of shit. We have always been the ones to report the pain & struggles of the world, while everyone else makes you think it's all champagne & strip clubs! Guess, they just "frontin'"!!!

Yo, most of you cats probably dont remember or ever heard of this group "The Bums" (Brothas Unda Madness) from the Bay area. Sway (from MTV) & King Tech were 2 of the most influential DJ's supporting real hip-hop, and this was one of their groups. Evolcalist & D-Wise were some of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet personally. Now as far as rhymin'... they were just OK. I think Sway & Tech just needed to place an act because they had all kinds of talented cats coming thru to the Wake Up show, but they chose to run with The B.U.M.S (horrible choice for a group name)!!! Priority Records picked up the group and dropped them just as quick... Check Out "Free My Mind"
I gotta give it up for the Bay Area... they have pushed their urban cultural phenomenon to the movie screen! Check out the trailer for "Ghost Ride The Whip" coming soon to a theatre near you...

Its always good when a esteemed actor can shed his celebrity in an act of humanity. This past Memorial Day, Cuba Gooding Jr. was waiting for his take-out order from Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles (LA's premiere "Hood" joint) and saves a life - Read The Story Here
In other news, Cuba shot a sort of PSA for Cialis... funny shit, peep it!

New Strong Arm Steady video "One Step" featuring Talib Kweli... Cool videom but Im alil confused as there's no Mitchy Slick??? I know Xzibit & others have chosen to thumb down the movement since Kweli's involvement, but I thought Mitch was still in the mix... Anyway, there's some cool cameos from LA's underground artists such as Chace Infinite, DJ Truly OdD, Jellyroll & others. As The Rap World Turns...Check it!

"From LA With Love" bio:
Los Angeles reflects the most recent evolution of world cities. World cities have always been looked to as the ultimate expression of a particular period. New York City modernism epitomized the 20th Century. Now here in the 21st Century Los Angeles is the Postmodern Metropolis.
Statistically L.A. is the newest major world city. Almost all the other megaopolises like Tokyo , Cairo , Rome , Hong Kong, London , and Shanghai have urban histories dating back thousands of years. L.A. is the instant city that grew to 20 million people in one century. The population doubled every ten years from 1900 to 1950. There are no age-old traditions to inhibit the growth of the emerging culture. L.A. 's yearning for the future is mightier than its ties to the past.
L.A. represents the culmination of global cross acculturation. The most beautiful results of the emerging culture are still surfacing. L.A. ’s underground is the new beautiful. The genres are melting & the sound defies category.
Urban theorists have called L.A. "the postmodern metropolis" & "a laboratory for the future." In no place is this more evident than in the local music and art scene. The multicultural landscape has made a canvass free for genre-bending music. Neighborhoods like Echo Park , Leimert Park , and Lincoln Heights , brim with life. All over Southern California progressive music is the standard, from Long Beach to Topanga Canyon , there is a lot more going on in Tinsel Town than just Hollywood .
Hollywood is actually, what makes it so easy for underground artists to slip below the radar in Southern California. Horace Tapscott remained mostly unknown to the world at large while being a legend in Los ANgeles for 40 years. He nurtured generations of musicians, passing the magic. Now in 2007 there are so many brilliant artists rising to the surface that it’s hard to keep track. Welcome to the other side of Hollywood , the real L.A.
The movement has been brewing for some time now. The 21st Century movement in L.A. is a culmination of mojo dating back to the 50s on Central Avenue & Avant garde giants like Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy & Horace Tapscott's Pan Afrikan People's Arkestra.
Central Avenue was once an archipelago of after-hours jazz jam sessions from Pico to Slauson, now after-hours rooftop parties go off below skyscrapers.
In these days of war, rising gas prices, inflation & gridlock, nothing is more healing than good music. The search for something more is driving L.A. musicians and artisans.
